HP-UX System Administrator's Guide: Overview: HP-UX 11i Version 3 > Chapter 2 HP-UX Virtualization TechnologiesVirtualization Technology Categories |
|
Virtualization technologies and their associated products fall into six basic categories based on the number of cores, servers, and operating system instances involved. The matrix in Figure 2-1 “Virtualization Technology Categories Matrix” shows these categories and how they align with processing cores, servers, and operating system instances.
The following sections discuss each of the virtualization categories and describe which HP-UX technologies to use if you need to configure your system(s) to take advantage of each category. [2] Technically, each server is running its own operating system, but they are all functioning as if they were a single instance, spanning multiple servers. |
